Rustic natural weddings have a certain appeal stemming from an appreciation of things that are not artificially “too perfect”. At the same time, it is nice when weddings are dressed up a bit, because a dash of fanciness emphasizes how special the occasion is and sets it apart from less momentous occasions. That is why the concept of rustic elegance is so wonderful: it takes the best of both worlds and stirs it all together into one unique wedding celebration.

In a sense, rustic elegance can be thought of as an artful blend of high and low style. Take a venue like a barn with exposed wooden beams or a reception site with brick walls and a nicked up old wood floor. Layer in some traditionally fancy elements like fine china, beautiful linens, and luscious floral arrangements. Sprinkle a few quirky or shabby chic details around the space (like tarnished silver candelabras), and you have the recipe for an event that is exquisitely beautiful, yet not at all precious. You will never have to worry that your guests will feel stifled in a barn the way they might in a grand ballroom. The rustic setting invites them to kick up their heels, while the special details drive home the point that your wedding day is a very special day indeed.

I think that without a question hanging a chandelier in a rustic old barn is the easiest way to add a big dose of elegance. They can be rented from many places these days, and they add such a beautiful sparkle to the space. Imagine how pretty it would look for an evening wedding.

As for the wedding attire, there are plenty beautiful wedding dresses and types of bridal accessories that fit the bill for a rustic chic bride. A soft dress, rather than a very structured one, tends to work the best. Lace is always good, as it is both very romantic and also well suited to a country setting. Don’t be afraid to add in a bit of sparkle, such as a twinkling pair of Swarovski crystal bridal earrings. Just think about how gorgeous they will look when they catch the sunlight for an outdoor ceremony. For your bridesmaids, look for short dresses, preferably knee length, not to the floor. Carry romantic bouquets tied up with burlap and lace to complete your “perfectly imperfect” rustic elegant wedding look.
