Wedding Accessory Trend: Floral Wreaths for Brides

Natalie Portman’s recent wedding highlighted a growing wedding trend: brides wearing wreaths. In recent years, wreaths have been more the domain of flower girls, but little circlets have been making a comebeakc for brides too. These wedding accessories have a natural, slightly Bohemian chic look that can be very pretty on the right woman. Take a look at the wreath trend, and see if it might be for you.

One of the great things about the floral wreath crown trend is that it works very well with hair of any length. Being a rather Bohemian accessory, it looks best with the hair worn down and loose. If you want to wear a veil like Natalie Portman did, you can pull back some of your hair to anchor the veil or attach it to the wreath. It is best to make it detachable in case you want to take off the veil during your reception

Logically, your wreath should coordinate with your bouquet in some fashion. In the image above, the bride’s crown uses some (but not all) of the same elements are are included in her bouquet. The wreath was also crafted with the same loose naturalistic style as her floral arrangement. I do like how theĀ  bouquet also has some elements that are not used in the wreath, because it might look odd if they matched exactly. After all, since the whole flavor of this type of hair decoration is sort of laid back and natural, a perfectly matched set would be too perfect.

A floral crown can be dainty or on the bold side. While it is usually done in a rustic, earthy style, the bride above left looks beautiful in her bolder wreath with a sparkly glamorous dress. It works well because her hair and makeup are styled in a very natural fashion. The bride on the right above has a very dainty circlet that is enhanced with touches of color. It would look nice to bring that color into the bridal bouquet or a pair of earrings for the bride.

Without a doubt, a wreath of blossoms is right at home for a laid back boho chic wedding. The bride seen above captures the spirit perfectly, from her soft gown to her colored flowers to her crocheted shawl. I like how her circlet is pushed back behind her bangs, which really helps to showcase her stunning blue eyes. After all, your wedding accessories should be chosen not only for their beauty, but to highlight your own natural beauty as well!
