Show your guests the way to your celebration with a hand painted wood sign with your initials. Shabby chic sign by Country Bliss Designs on Etsy.

Monograms are a wonderful way to personalize your wedding! To quote the fabulous Reese Witherspoon, “My sheets are monogrammed, so is my silverware and pretty much everything else I own. My rule is, if it’s not moving — monogram it!” There are many fantastic things to emblazon with your monogram, and it gives you a fun excuse to try out your new married initials. Take a look at these fantastic wedding monogram ideas, including things for your reception, your ceremony, and even jewelry for your bridal party.

Perhaps the most popular place to include a monogram in your wedding is on the invitations. There are countless ideas for how to use your initials on your wedding stationery. Typically it would be the bride’s monogram (using her maiden name) or the first initials of the bride and groom. If you want monogrammed note cards to use for thank you notes for wedding gifts, get two sets: one with your maiden name and one with your married name. Or if you only want to buy one set of note cards, just get ones made with your first initial so you can use them before and after the wedding.

The neat thing about monograms is that they can be done in different lettering styles to evoke a different sensibility. The fancy lettering above has an ornate vintage flavor that would be perfect for a wedding with an old-fashioned elegance. And do not think that this kind of customization is necessarily expensive, either. The template for the beautiful table number above is free on the Wedding Chicks website.

And how about personalized jewelry for your bridesmaids? A sterling silver monogram pendant, bracelet, or earrings would be awesome bridal party gifts. Your attendants will love having unique pieces made especially for them, and they will definitely get to wear them over and over again long after the wedding. Another terrific personalized present for your girls is an elegant script name necklace in silver or gold. It is great when you can find affordable bridesmaid jewelry that is such a personal and unique gift idea.

Customized accents are a lovely addition to virtually any style of wedding, not just formal or preppy ones. Look at this wonderful mossy initial hung on the side of a barn for a rustic wedding. The natural elements – moss, privet berries, and hens and chicks plants – are ideal for an outdoor reception. It looks like a pretty easy project for the DIY bride and is a delightful way to dress up an outdoor setting.

The wedding cake is a natural place to add a personal touch with your initials. Of course you could get a monogrammed cake topper, but I really like the idea of the putting the initials on the side of the cake. It can be anything from super fancy to informal. The image above is a subtle yet fantastic design. I love the way that the bride and groom’s initials are featured on either side of the lobster motif. It ties in perfectly with the rope and knot design on the nautical theme cake. What will you monogram for your wedding?
