It is always fun to look ahead to what will be hot for weddings in the coming year, and an idea that is trending for 2013 weddings is rainbow colors. There are few things more cheerful than bright colors that encompass the entire spectrum; the trick is to create a vibrant palette that is still sophisticated enough for a wedding. These are some beautiful ways to create a rainbow colored wedding with style.

Be creative in how you introduce a rainbow of bright colors into your wedding. Bold colors should be used judiciously so as not to create a circus-like effect that sears the retinas. The image above is a fabulous way to use many different colors together. I love how each bridesmaid has a signature color for her shoes and matching bouquet. When paired with crisp white dresses,  it looks absolutely chic and original; it would even look great to give your bridesmaids chunky colorful bridesmaid jewelry necklaces to wear with white dresses.  The white dress on bridesmaids has been trending ever since Pippa Middleton wore the look so well, and the vibrant accents ensure that no one would confuse the bridal party with the bride. Notice how the bride has a bouquet of colorful mixed blossoms that combines all of the colors her bridesmaids have.

The wedding cake is a very easy place to use a rainbow of colors. The heart cake above is just too fun! Colorful, whimsical, and romantic, it would be just the thing for a casual summer wedding. If you like, you could use the heart theme in a few more places in your wedding to tie it together. Crystal heart pendants make sweet gifts for the bridal party. It also would be fun to do something like heart shaped canapes. Another fun idea would be to create DIY rainbow heart garlands to string around the reception site.

The best way to use rainbow bright accents in your wedding decor is to combine it with fresh white. That will ensure that the look remains festive, rather than garish. In the image above on the left, the impressive colorful origami that hangs over the reception tables is virtually the only decoration in the room. Everything else is kept very simple and understated, which allows the wonderful hanging decorations to take center stage. Rainbow accents would be a great way to add character to a very plain reception site such as a loft. The picture above on the right shows how wonderful colorful flowers and streamers look against a backdrop of white walls and tablecloths.

You can find many additional ways to brighten up your wedding with rainbow colors. You could create a colorful array of macaroons, cupcakes, and cake pops for a delightful dessert table. Or tie colorful bits of yarn around brown paper boxes for festive favor wrappings. With so many fun possibilities, it is no wonder that the rainbow wedding theme is predicted to be popular well into 2013.
