Purple Bridesmaid Dresses for Fall Weddings

Rich violet duchess satin dresses are beautiful for fall bridesmaids. Notice how each woman is wearing the neckline of her choice. Dresses by Aria.

If you are getting married this fall, it is high time to choose your bridesmaid dresses! Shades of purple are one of the hottest colors going for attendants this year, and purple is a wonderful choice for autumn. From rich plum or aubergine to dustier shades of thistle, there are a number of beautiful options for purple bridesmaid dresses for fall weddings. See a few of my favorites here.

Elegant tissue taffeta one shoulder bridesmaid dress. Watters style 9616 shown in Heather with Grape trim.

Choosing the right fabric is important when selecting a bridesmaid dress for an autumn wedding. Popular materials like chiffon and organza are not appropriate for fall, but luckily, there are plenty of other fabulous options. Case in point: the beautiful tissue taffeta one shoulder dress above. The lightweight taffeta and sheer horsehair bow on the shoulder won’t weigh your bridesmaids down, but they are also wonderful for the fall season. This pretty medium purple Heather dress would be lovely for a formal afternoon ceremony; it also comes in deeper shades of purple that would be stunning for a black tie wedding. With such a dramatic bow on the shoulder, drop earrings are the perfect bridesmaid jewelry to wear with this dress.

Tissue taffeta knee length strapless dress with box pleats and a cummberbund waist. Lazaro style LZ3922 in Blackberry.

This luxe tissue taffeta dress by Lazaro is in a gorgeous shade of purple called Blackberry that has blackish undertones. The great thing about the black tones is that your bridesmaids can wear their favorite black evening shoes with it; no need to go out and shop for new shoes in a color they will never wear again. Despite being knee length, this is a fairly formal dress, and it would be wonderful for either an afternoon church wedding or an evening cocktail reception.

Stylish halter neckline with a fabulous ruffle. Alfred Sung dupioni bridesmaid dress style D468 in Majestic.

I don’t know what it is about this ruffle halter neckline, but I am absolutely crazy for it. It is so feminine, yet also tailored, chic, and fashion-forward at the same time – perfection! Shown in Majestic dupioni, this Alfred Sung dress is a true purple. I love how it is shown with the hair worn up to showcase the fabulous ruffle at the neck. Big earrings and a chunky bracelet are the ideal accessories to complete this bridesmaid dress.  It is a marvelous choice for brides who want something other than strapless for their bridal party, and it can also be ordered as a floor length style.

A deep V neckline and dramatic shirring make this rich purplish-burgundy luminescent taffeta dress a great choice for a formal fall wedding. Watters dress style 3733 in Acai.

If you want your bridesmaids to make a statement when they walk down the aisle, take a look at this eye-catching deep V neckline dress from Watters. The Acai color is a nice variation on purple with a rich burgundy undertone. The sheen of the luminescent taffeta definitely gives this dress a formal flavor. It would be a gorgeous dress to pair with a bridal gown that has a lot of ruching.

Shantung bridesmaid dress with a pleated bodice and a tulip skirt. Lula Kate Kristyn dress in Passion. Also available in floor length and maternity versions.

Looking for something short and sweet for your bridesmaids? Look no further than this charming strapless dress by Lula Kate. The sweetheart neckline and natural waist are right on trend, and it even has pockets! The tulip skirt is a very pretty shape; don’t worry if your bridesmaids can’t carry the tulip shape, though, because the dress can also be ordered with several other skirt shapes. Best of all, there is a maternity version in case one of your bridesmaids ends up pregnant before your wedding. This is a darling bridesmaid dress for any daytime fall wedding.

A chic little dress with a bateau neckline and a peplum waist in dupioni. Alfred Sung style D558 in Watermelon.

Finally, take a look at this lovely knee length dress by Alfred Sung. It is shown in a vibrant watermelon color which would be stunning with a bouquet made in shades of plum and fuchsia. It can also be ordered in deeper purple hues if you prefer something a bit less vivid. What sets this dress apart from the crowd is the chic and trendy peplum waist. It also scores points for the classic bateau neckline. One thing is for sure: if you like purple bridesmaid dresses, you will have a lot of fantastic options!
