It is an old custom that a bride wears or carries something blue on her wedding day. Even a fairly non-traditional bride is likely to include this custom in her wedding, because it is just plain fun. Besides, blue symbolizes fidelity, so it is quite an appropriate color to wear when you tie the knot. These are some ideas for your something blue.

Personally, I think it is always cute to paint your toenails blue for your something blue. I did mine a Tiffany blue, but you could also go with something a bit brighter like the picture above. I love how her blue toenails peek out of her peep toe pumps just a little bit. And just think of how ice your pedicure will look on the beach for your honeymoon.

If you like blue flowers, hydrangeas are perfect. Image via Flower Arrangement Advisor.
A blue bouquet is always a great way to get that touch of blue in your wedding. If you are getting married in the late spring or summer, blue hydrangeas are perfect. Blue flowers get a little harder to come by when hydrangeas are not readily available, but you can consider muscari, delphiniums, cornflowers, or even dyed carnations. Some brides opt to have a white bouquet and add a blue accent like a ribbon, a piece of crystal jewelry, or blue pearls in the middle of flowers.

Another terrific idea for the bride’s something blue is custom bridal jewelry made with blue Swarovski crystals and pearls. I love style of the set above because the strand is very classic, but the blue hue makes it unique. It would certainly look fantastic with any style of wedding dress. Blue jewelry is also nice because it will be easy to wear again after your wedding.

Some brides like to incorporate their something blue into their wedding dress. A blue sash or blet is one option, but certainly not the only possibility. I absolutely love how this pale blue tulle crinoline looks peeking out from under a bridal gown. I think it is absolutely genius! The somthing blue does not need to be seen by all to “count”. It is very sentimental to embroider your wedding date or initials inside your bridal gown. What a special detail that would make.

Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention blue wedding shoes for brides. It may not be the most unique idea, but it always looks fantastic. Besides, what bride doesn’t want an excuse to splurge on a really spectacular pair of shoes? If you cannot find blue shoes in the style that you want, remember that you can select white dyeable shoes. Without a doubt, there are plenty of great options for the bride’s something blue. Choose one or use several ideas if you wish – there is no such thing as too much good luck on your wedding day!
