5 Reasons to Wear a Bridal Veil

I personally am a big fan of veils on brides, and I was very happy to see that classic bridal veils are coming back into style. If you have been wondering whether or not to wear a veil on your wedding day, I recommend that you go for it! Check out the top 5 reasons to wear a bridal veil:

One: Veils are traditional. Let’s be honest, much of what we do in modern weddings is based on traditions that have been passed down through the generations. The veil is the ultimate symbol of a bride, and it just looks so lovely. If you are a very traditional bride, a veil is a must, but they can also be a nice way to give a non-traditional wedding gown a distinctly bridal flair. Bonus points for wearing your mom’s veil as your “something old”.

A bridal veil is part of the complete package of wedding accessories that create a beautiful finished effect.

Two: A veil completes your bridal ensemble. Brides love to be fully accessorized, from the perfect crystal wedding jewelry to a fabulous pair of designer shoes; without a veil, the bridal ensemble just doesn’t look quite complete. Besides, your veil gives you another chance to add style to your wedding attire. You can choose a veil with a lace border, exquisite embroidery, twinkling crystals, or whatever else strikes your fancy.

Three: A veil makes you feel like a bride. If you have ever watched “Say Yes to the Dress”, you know that there is something about the moment a woman puts on a veil that transforms her into a bride. Until that moment, you are just a woman wearing an extraordinary white gown, but once the veil goes on, you become a real bride. Just watch your mom’s face when you put on a veil – that is usually when the waterworks begin!

Four: The veil will hide your tears as you walk down the aisle. Speaking of tears of joy, a veil will also help to hide your tears during your wedding ceremony. This can be very useful if you tend to be the emotional type. At my own wedding, I also found that wearing a veil with a blusher felt like being in a little cocoon, which helped me to feel more calm and keep the tears at bay

Five: Veils make for wonderful photo ops. I love pictures of brides with their veils blowing in the wind on a breezy afternoon. Just as delightful are photos of the veil being delicately placed in the bride’s hair before she walks down the aisle. If you will be wearing a blusher, the images of it being pushed back at your ceremony are always beautiful. Truly, a veil makes for some of the prettiest wedding pictures.
