A Whimsical Butterfly Motif Wedding

If you are looking for a wedding motif that is sure to delight and enchant, consider using butterflies. They are a wonderful wedding motif, full of whimsy and color. Discover how to make your wedding feel magical using a butterfly motif.

Fanciful butterfly escort cards.

You can easily weave the butterfly concept throughout your wedding. The stationery is a natural place to include your signature design. Butterflies look particularly nice when they are lacy, colorful, and look like they are about to take flight. I love these pretty escort cards that show a variety of shapes and colors of butterflies; it is as if a whole group of them just happened to land on the escort card table. There are also some very beautiful wedding invitations using this theme or you can make your own using rubber stamps and a heavy cardstock paper.

A butterfly motif can also be used in the wedding attire and jewelry. There are some ways that the bride can incorporate the theme into her ensemble in a sophisticated and subtle fashion. Choose a flirty dress made from ethereal organza, one that has a ruffly skirt, or a tulle dress. Add a butterfly or two in your accessories. It could be a rhinestone ornament on your shoes, a crystal butterfly hair clip, or even a lace embellishment with a butterfly design. Just don’t sew colorful butterflies all over your wedding dress; that is a cute idea for the flower girl, but not grown up enough for the bride. If your wedding ceremony will be outdoors, it could even be cute to let the flower girl wear a pair of butterfly wings down the aisle. A sparkling Swarovski crystal butterfly pendant would be the perfect gift for your flower girl.

Flowers and butterflies go together beautifully. It looks marvelous to add silk or feather butterflies to the bouquets, the centerpieces, or even on the arbor for the marriage ceremony. If you really want to make a statement, it would be fabulous for the bridal bouquet to be made entirely of silk, enamel, or feather butterflies. Or you could wire just a few butterflies into a bouquet of flowers to look as if they are fluttering around the blossoms. If you prefer something more subtle, carry a bouquet of white orchids – their fluttery petals are often said to resemble butterflies. For the reception centerpieces, definitely plan to add some pretty butterflies perched here and there. It will certainly make your centerpieces a conversation piece.

Or how about sweet butterfly wedding cupcakes in a lacy butterfly motif paper?

There are many fabulous ideas for butterfly theme wedding cakes. I love the way they look perched in a cascade down the tiers of the cake. You could select one color, as seen in the pink butterflies above, or opt for a rainbow effect. Another idea is to decorate cupcakes with cute butterfly toppers in lieu of having the traditional tiered cake. Really the only way that you should not incorporate this playful motif into your wedding is by having a live butterfly release at your wedding ceremony (the butterflies ultimately perish). Other than that, you simply cannot go wrong using these beautiful creatures to decorate your wedding.
