Platform wedding shoes. L: Kate Spade “Gracious: R: Brianna Leigh “Karina”. Image credit: My Glass Slipper

Platform shoes are big for 2012 weddings. We’re not talking 1970s style platforms with clunky heels, but rather 1940′s inspired platforms that make you look like a vixen. Get some lift and attitude, while still maintaining a graceful step. Many of the prettiest platform shoes have peep toes…all the better to show off your pedicure! I especially love the D’orsay pump peep toe platform wedding shoes which combine the open toe with a cut away side. Look for shoes with a crystal brooch if you are planning to wear sparkly crystal bridal jewelry. Never have white pumps looked more fabulous!

Pink wedding shoes. Clockwise: Badgley Mischka “Dreamy”, Vera Wang “Savy”, Badgley Mischka “Lacie”, and Valentino pink lace.

Any shade of pink or blush shoe is marvelous for the bride, and this year there are tons of fantastic options. Many of the shoes have fairly high heels in keeping with their ultra-feminine sensibility. The fun thing is that the pink bridal shoes often incorporate other hot trends, so there are pink lace shoes, pink glittered shoes, pink shoes with jeweled embellishments, and so on. Any of these would be absolutely beautiful peeking out from under a white or ivory wedding gown. Best of all, you will be able to wear them again after the wedding since they are not bridal white.

Glitter wedding shoes. Clockwise: Miu Miu, Kate Spade “Charm”, Christian Louboutin “Pigalle”, Manolo Blahnik “Fataduca”

What else is hot for brides in 2012? Glitter! Metallic shoes are very popular in general, and the glittery ones are just spectacular. Nothing says that you are ready to celebrate quite like a pair of silver or gold glittered high heels. These shoes would be stunning with almost any wedding dress, and would be especially great if you plan to change into a second slinkier dress for the reception. Feel free to blow your budget on a pair of glitter shoes for your wedding, because they will definitely become your go-to shoes for any party or special occasion for years to come.

Lace wedding shoes. L to R: Manolo Blahnik “Sedaraby”, Christian Louboutin, Joan and David “Cutie”

Lastly, there are lace shoes. Lace has been a huge trend in bridal gowns and wedding fashion for 2012 and the lace shoes are simply lovely. They come in classic white and ivory, of course, but there are also quite a few shown in a black lace with nude backing or in soft colors like pink. While a lace shoe with a less bridal gown might be overkill, they would look absolutely dreamy peeking out from under a tulle or organza wedding dress. I love how the lace wedding shoes are both romantic and sexy at the same time. It is the epitome of modern bridal style.
