As much as possible we all want our parents to be free from the burden of paying for our wedding. We do feel that we owe them much that we want to be fully committed in being as independent as possible. But current situations may also hold us back from realizing total independence at the moment and we may ask our parents for help when it comes to financing our wedding.

It would be insensitive of you if you put the discussion right away although you know that they are in the middle of remodeling the house or you found out that your parents have been arguing about something even if it is not about financial problems.
When you find that all of them are in a good mood and they are even anticipating for you to talk to them, you will find a much better result. They will be much willing to discuss your wedding and even your bridal jewelry if they are all calm and relax.
