title pic Organize Yourself with a Wedding Planner

Posted by LisaM on July 1, 2009

Having an actual wedding planner, an organizer notebook not the person, can really be a life saver for those brides. Although a person who plans the wedding can also be a great help and support on your wedding preparation, but we are going to discuss the importance of having a wedding planner or wedding organizer to fit into your wedding planning.

Just like a normal organizer, a wedding planner is just where you will put all those necessary items you may find interesting and useful through your plans. You can use a notebook, your organizer, or your laptop as your wedding planner. But in most cases they are just simple notebooks or organizers meant for planning the wedding.

In using your wedding planner, divide them in two parts. The first part is your schedule. Where you will go and what appointment waits for you such as cake testing, bridal jewelry shopping, and bridesmaid’s luncheon. The second portion of your wedding planner is anything that you may find useful for the wedding. It could be a clip of a bridal jewelry you saw on a magazine, a picture of possible bridesmaid gifts, names of some of those famous wedding photographers, the costs you are expecting for each vendor and such.

title pic Having a Wedding Kit in your Wedding day

Posted by LisaM on June 30, 2009

What is a wedding kit anyway? Well, a wedding kit is just like an emergency kit, but instead of all those bandages and medicine inside the kit, you will find things that maybe important to have during the wedding.

A wedding day is just like any other day. Where people may find themselves in mishaps and just like an ordinary day, a bride should be prepared of accidents that may happen.

What is inside a wedding kit? As said, wedding kits are also emergency kits, but with all those necessary items meant for the bride. Make ups, foundation, lipsticks, bridal jewelry box, an extra pair of bridal jewelry earrings or even a necklace, panty hosed, safety pins, needles and threads, hair pins, and even a bottled water. Anything that may unexpectedly assist the bride in case there is an emergency although most brides avoid thinking that mishaps may happen, but still, we never know. Preparation is still the best defense not to ruin a great wedding

title pic All About Your Bridesmaid’s Luncheon

Posted by LisaM on June 29, 2009

There are so many places on where to make your bridesmaid’s luncheon and there is no rule regarding this. Thisluncheon is a time you, the bride, will just spend some quality bonding time with your close girlfriends, your maid of honor and your bridesmaids.

This is different from the shower party you will receive from your friends. This time is an intimate time with them just to talk over things and great advice and encouragement that you can get from them before you get married. This is also your opportunity to present them with your bridesmaid gifts since you might not find the right timing to hand them their gifts once the ceremony starts. Your bridesmaid gifts may be bridal jewelry or some items that they may find useful even after your wedding.

A bridesmaid’s luncheon should be relaxing so some brides can even hold this on a Spa, their house, or even in a coffee shop. Wherever suits the budget and wherever your friends may feel comfortable. Those who are included in the luncheon are your mom, your sisters, close cousins, and of course your bridesmaids.

Usual discussions that happen in the luncheon are all about marriage life and the ups and downs of it. Not like the bridal party, the bride may feel more relax in here since she is surrounded by trusted people she can confide in.

title pic Let Your Bridesmaids Shine In Your Wedding

Posted by LisaM on June 27, 2009

The wedding is a time when the woman of the day shines. Well, that does not mean the maid of honor or the entire entourage has to look second-rate. Your bridal party is an important part of your wedding, and you will definitely want to see your ladies to their best.

Once you have picked out the bridal jewelry for the party, you will probably have the dresses and shoes ready as well. Just be sure that the accessories blend with the overall look. You and your bridal party will have many picture-takings before, during and after the wedding ceremony, so you and your girls should look great throughout the day.

Select an appropriate bridal jewelry for the hairstyle you want. Remember, earrings with large stones have great impact if your hair style is an up-do. Drop earrings are beautiful and noticeable. Rhinestones look elegant on dresses. Select rhinestones that match the color of dresses being worn. Make-up and jewelry can really make a big difference so exaggerated make-up and jewelry is all right.

In case the bridesmaid dresses are thin spaghetti straps or strapless, a sparkly necklace is a must. Single stone pendant looks great on such dresses, but if you like to wear something more modern, try giving your girls CZ’s. You can create several layers of jewels with these necklaces by wrapping it multiple times. If you like your bridesmaids to wear pearls, try multi-pearl strands highlighted by an elegant rhinestone flower. This contemporary take on a wedding favorite will surely get a lot of attention.

Consider a bridal jewelry gift set if you are thinking of a meaningful gift for all the girls in your entourage – that includes your cute flower girl.

title pic Keeping your Wedding Simple

Posted by LisaM on June 24, 2009

As we go about this phase of recession, our lives have started a different angle of money saving. Thus, saving as much as we can possibly do during our wedding preparation is a real must especially that no couple would want to start their marriage life in debt.

Although there are a lot of advice given online and mostly on books on how to budget your wedding, doing their advice can really be difficult mainly if we want to keep it simple, but we just have a huge family on our lists of invites. But before inviting everyone consider this:

Know your priority. To make your wedding simple couples should adhere to what they really want with their wedding and stick with it. If you really want to have a simple wedding and really don’t want to spend too much on it, consider your invites. Even if you might hurt some relatives along the way, but they would probably understand the situation sooner than you think.

Stick to your budget. This is a difficult task to do since there are a lot of buys when in the process of planning your wedding. Even your bridal jewelry can be a problem since there are a lot of beautiful collections in bridal jewelry. The key is to know what you want and just select on the type of bridal jewelry you want. Know your budget and stay there.

Avoid having debts. As much as possible avoid using your credit card just to supplement the need to throw a rehearsal dinner party or such. Ask help from your family if they can give a lending cash for your wedding. Start saving early before you decide to get married and you will not have a lot of money problems.

title pic Trends in Wedding Rings

Posted by Bridget Mora on April 23, 2009

Since you already have that engagement ring on your hand, it’s now time that you start thinking about your wedding bands. These bands are a symbol of your love together, and you definitely want to choose a great set of rings for the big day. Of course there are many different options to choose from, so you may be wondering what some of the new trends in weddings bands are to consider.

Trends in Metals:

There are a variety of different metals to consider for your wedding rings. You can choose from yellow gold, white gold, and even platinum. While it used to be that yellow gold was the big thing, today the white metals are considered the new trend.

Both white gold and platinum are great options. Most jewelry stores are now selling double the rings in the white metals. There are even bands that now incorporate both yellow and white gold together. You can add touches of platinum to a yellow gold ring or yellow gold accents to your platinum ring, as well.

Trends in Stones:

While wedding bands don’t have to have any stones in them, it’s considered quite trendy to add some “bling” to your wedding band. Diamonds are the most common stones that are added to wedding bands. There are many settings and styles to choose from if you want to go with diamonds.

However, today the newest trends are to go with colored stones within your wedding band. Brides like the idea of wearing a wedding band with a dash of color. If you have a favorite gemstone, you can use it along with diamonds in your wedding band to create a band that is totally unique and beautiful.

title pic African-American Wedding Ceremony Customs

Posted by Bridget Mora on April 21, 2009

Each culture and heritage has its own special wedding customs that have been passed down through generations. The wedding traditions of African-Americans are especially rich, as they draw on the couple’s African heritage and American culture. These are some of the most popular rituals in African-American wedding ceremonies.

The jumping of a broom is known in the United States as an African-American wedding custom. During the Southern antebellum period when slaves were brought from Africa, marriages between slaves was not recognized as being binding, much less legal. Thus, broom jumping became a symbolic act of marriage between the slave communities.

Today this custom is performed not only in remembrance and as an honorific to the bride and groom’s ancestors, but it also represents the family, the hearth, and above all, cleanliness. In Africa itself, the broom is often used to sweep away any evil around the marrying couple. Some people feel that it also represents fertility. In modern weddings, a woman close to the couple usually brings the broom down the aisle of the wedding ceremony and places it on the floor facing the couple. There is a brief explanation of what the broom signifies and then the couple jumps over the broom.

Another African-American ceremony that may be used is referred to as crossing the sticks. Prior to the wedding, the bride and groom collect branches from both families’ property and lay them down and then cross them after they are married. This signifies the life force and power of trees and thus the couple is expressing their staunch commitment to each other.
